Dormilandia
The Island of Lazy Bones
(Scroll down to explore Dormilandia)

Vintage 2013
This is where it all started. Our little guy is having a peaceful nap on some soft, comfy moss outcrop.
The name Dormilona means ‘lazybones’ or ‘sleepyhead’ in Spanish. It’s a very laid back style of winemaking and was my nickname in Spain as I was always tuckered out at dinnertime and needed to find a spot to rest.
Season
Stunning warm spring days allowed the vineyards to flourish. There was no summer rain, so made it an early harvest but a good one.
Challenges
Found out I was pregnant with number two.
Highlights
The Cabernet was stunning and creating the first Skinnie.

Vintage 2014
Slowly ponders about until he finds a lovely tree to rest on by a flowing stream.
All the wines are naturally made, no additives, no fining and no filtration, just a sprinkle of sulphur and some no sulphur at all.
Season
Plenty of rainfall late autumn meant for significant growth. Ripening was long and warm with lots of cool breeze in the afternoons keeping natural acids low.
Challenges
Working harvest with a newborn and a toddler was a juggle.
Highlights
The Chardonnay and invested in my first amphora pots.

Vintage 2015
After paddling his little boat upstream, he ties up and has a little siesta in the cool shade next to the sounds of a trickling waterfall.
We are all about the pursuit of creating amazing wines for naturally farmed fruit from certified organic and biodynamic vineyards.
Season
Yields were down due to not ideal weather at flowering and the vintage was pushed to finish early from Cyclone Olwyn.
Challenges
Moving winery and making sure I hadn’t forgotten anything.
Highlights
Bottling off the first Clayface – 100% made in pure amphora.

Vintage 2016
He slowly adventures through the waterfall and finds a cosy cave. If you turn your light off, there is more that comes to life in the cave.
All the Dormilona wines are from Margaret River GI, single vineyards & no blending is made. This is to truly express the site, the variety & vintage.
Season
All was looking schmick then some unwanted summer rain came along, which resulted in a massive botrytis outbreak through many plantings.
Challenges
Fermenting the whites to dryness. Natural yeasts where low.
Highlights
Winning the Australian Young Gun of Wine 2016, very happy.

Vintage 2017
Exits the cave and climbs high, up to a mountain pass. Breathing in the high altitude air, then sits and mediates.
Season
A tricky one to get right. Vineyards had bumper crops, and if you didn’t do the necessary fruit thinning, the fruit would struggle to reach good optimal ripeness.
Challenges
Losing Wilma, our beautiful Newfoundland dog. Then dealing with the pup Humphrey, Old English Sheepdog, a total nightmare.
Highlights
The winery awarded certified organic from ACO.

Vintage 2018
After a trek down off the mountaintop into the snow lines, he discovers some toasty warm hot springs to soak his lazy bones.
Season
Stunning growing season, conditions on point and total mega bloom of the Marri trees meant a cracker of a vintage with no bird pressure.
Challenges
Still dealing with the dog Humphrey.
Highlights
Chenin and creating two more Clayface wines. Stunning year.
